📘 How to Control Your Emotions
(Як кантраляваць свае эмоцыі)
🟦 Paragraph 1
Sometimes emotions can feel overwhelming, especially in stressful situations. The first step to controlling them is to become aware of what you're feeling and why. Identifying your emotions gives you the power to take a step back and observe instead of reacting immediately. For example, if you feel angry, try asking yourself what caused that emotion and whether it’s worth reacting to straight away.
💬 Reflective Question:
Have you ever reacted emotionally and later realised it would have been better to pause? What would you do differently next time?
🟦 Paragraph 2
Breathing techniques and mindfulness can be powerful tools for managing emotions. Slowing down your breath helps calm your body and mind, making it easier to think clearly. Mindfulness teaches you to stay present and observe your thoughts without judgement. Practising these regularly can help you stay more balanced in emotionally difficult moments.
💬 Reflective Question:
Do you use any strategies like breathing or mindfulness to calm yourself? If not, would you be willing to try? Why or why not?
🟦 Paragraph 3
Another useful strategy is to express your emotions in a healthy way. This might include talking to a friend, writing in a journal, or using creative outlets like drawing or music. Suppressing your emotions completely can lead to stress and frustration. It’s important to let them out — but in a way that doesn’t hurt yourself or others.
💬 Reflective Question:
Which healthy ways of expressing emotions work best for you personally? Can you think of a time when they helped?
🟦 Paragraph 4
Finally, learning to manage your emotions takes time. No one is perfect, and everyone reacts emotionally sometimes. The goal is not to eliminate emotions but to understand them and respond wisely. With patience, practice, and support, emotional control becomes a valuable skill for life, both personally and professionally.
💬 Reflective Question:
How do you think emotional control could help you in your work or studies?

Emotions in Autumn
📝 Exercise. Read the text carefully. After each paragraph, answer the personal question in 2–3 sentences.
🍂 When autumn arrives, many people notice that their emotions become more intense. Some feel thrilled 🤩 or even delighted 😃 by the colours of falling leaves, while others feel melancholy 😔 or nostalgic 🕰️ as days get shorter. Scientists say that less sunlight may make us feel down in the dumps or even anxious 😟. Still, autumn can also inspire creativity, because quiet evenings often give people more time to reflect and write ✍️.
❓ How do you usually feel when the days become shorter in autumn?
🌧️ Rainy days often create a mixed atmosphere. On the one hand, the sound of raindrops can help us feel serene 😌 and calm down. On the other hand, constant rain may make us frustrated 😤, resentful 😒 or even furious 😡 when our plans are ruined. Psychologists explain that our brain reacts strongly to changes in light and sound, which is why weather can influence our mood so deeply.
❓ Do rainy days make you more calm or more annoyed? Why?
🔥 Autumn is also the season of strong contrasts. Some people feel over the moon 😁 when they start something new, like a job or a course, while others feel jealous 😒 or even insecure 😟 when they see others succeeding. At the same time, colder evenings often bring families together around a warm meal, which makes people grateful 🙏 and pleased with their close relationships. For others, however, the darker season can trigger a sense of loneliness 🕯️.
❓ What activities in autumn make you feel most grateful or connected to others?
🌬️ However, many people tend to bottle up their feelings 🤐 in autumn, not sharing them with friends. The reason is simple: when the world outside looks grey, people sometimes believe that nobody wants to hear about their sadness. Yet, experts recommend not to hold a grudge or stay resentful about small things. Talking to someone you trust can help you feel less overwhelmed 😥 and more hopeful 🌟.
❓ Do you usually share your feelings with others in autumn, or do you keep them inside?
🌙 Finally, autumn teaches us balance. While it is easy to worry about 🍂 exams, work or the future, autumn nights also remind us of the importance of rest. People who practise mindfulness or spend time in nature often feel satisfied with themselves and even serene 😌, despite the darker season. Autumn, with all its ups and downs, gives us a chance to reflect, recharge and prepare for new beginnings with a hopeful heart 💫.
❓ What helps you personally to stay balanced and positive in autumn?
