📘 Grammar Guide: Present Perfect

Topic Explanation Examples
🌟 General meaning We use the Present Perfect to talk about actions or experiences that are connected with the present. I have finished my work. / She has received a package.
✅ Positive sentence Subject + have / has + past participle I have felt calm today. / He has taken a walk.
👤 Have or has? We use have with I, you, we, they. We use has with he, she, it. I have eaten. / She has eaten.
❌ Negative sentence Subject + have / has + not + past participle I have not finished. / He has not replied.
✂️ Short negative forms haven’t = have not; hasn’t = has not We haven’t spoken today. / She hasn’t slept well.

🕰️ Life experience We use Present Perfect to talk about life experience without saying exactly when. I have seen this film. / They have tried yoga.
📅 Today / this week / recently / lately We use Present Perfect with unfinished time periods or recent actions. I have worked a lot today. / She has felt tired lately.
🔑 Result now We use Present Perfect when the action has a result now. I have lost my gloves. / He has found his keys.
⚡ Already Already means something happened earlier than expected. I have already finished my work.
⏳ Yet Yet is often used in questions and negative sentences. Have you replied yet? / She hasn’t replied yet.
✨ Just Just means something happened a very short time ago. We have just received a message.
⚠️ Present Perfect vs Past Simple Past Simple says when something happened. Present Perfect shows a connection with now. Past Simple: I spoke to him yesterday. / Present Perfect: I have spoken to him today.
🧩 Common past participles Many important verbs are irregular, so we must learn their third form. eat — eaten; drink — drunk; speak — spoken; write — written; find — found; feel — felt

📘 Grammar Guide: yet vs already

Word Meaning We usually use it in… Position in the sentence Examples
already Something happened earlier than expected. Positive sentences and questions. Usually before the main verb, but after have / has. I have already finished my work.
yet Something has not happened, but we expect it to happen. Negative sentences and questions. Usually at the end of the sentence. I haven’t finished my work yet.
already in questions We are surprised that something happened so soon. Questions. After have / has. Have you already eaten breakfast?
yet in questions We ask if something has happened up to now. Questions. At the end of the sentence. Have you eaten breakfast yet?
not yet Something has not happened up to now. Negative answers. At the end. No, I haven’t replied yet.
